Intergrated Water Resource Management (IWRM)

Promote the efficient development and management of natural resources to meet the basic and livelihood needs of the target communities. IWRM is a broad-based approach and includes a wide range of activities mainly in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector.

Solvatten Project

Solvatten containers are used to purify raw water, so as to make it safe for consumption. In Tharaka Nithi, Tana River and Wajir Counties, the communities draw water directly from rivers, shallow wells, earth dams and streams which is not safe for drinking.

The project was initiated by the Embassy of Japan, implemented by International Aid Services Kenya in five public primary schools in Tharaka Nithi.

The overall objective of the project was provision of water for both consumption and school garden sustainability during the dry season.

Manyirani Farmers Water Project

Manyirani Farmers Irrigation Water Project has constructed two water intakes and installed two water lines for irrigation. More than 200 farmers have been connected and benefiting from the water system where by the community from Manyirani is both economically and food secure.
